Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Today was our Sunday School class' 4th annual family outing to the pumpkin patch. After a delicious picnic lunch at the church picnic shelter we formed our caravan and headed up the interstate. It was a beautiful day...a high of 75 degrees and a slight breeze.

We took a hayride out to the patch and picked 3 pumpkins - 1 Ella-sized pumpkin for Ella to call her own, 1 for Trent to decorate for the pumpkin contest at school, and 1 "family" pumpkin to carve for Halloween.

Than we rode the tractor back to the farm, paid for our pumpkins, and visited the ice cream parlor where Trent ate Superman ice cream, Ella shared Superman ice cream with her cousin Sydnie, John drank a chocolate milkshake (I'm not sure what has gotten into him!!), and I of course ate a scoop of PUMPKIN ICE CREAM...one of my favorite parts of the fall.

I just couldn't leave the post without some video clips of our trip. The first clip is of Ella looking for a pumpkin. We thought we had a winner until see discovered it was dirty. The second clip I took of Ella walking back to the hayride tractor stop. She is telling me about her pumpkin. Enjoy!

Ella Teaches Us to Play Hide-and-Seek

Yesterday, I went to pick up Ella at Jackie's and the kids were playing outside. As Jackie and I talked we overheard Ella starting a game of Hide and Seek with everybody. It seems Ella is a little mixed up...

I thought I would include another short clip that I took tonight. Sorry that the lighting is not to good. It was right before bedtime.

Pops Will Be Proud!

I must say that the day the Boy Scouts Cubmaster comes to lunch is not my favorite...unfortunately, today was that day. Each year, the Cubmaster from the local pack comes and hands out flyers to all the boys in1st-5th grade during the lunches to get the word out about the Sign-Ups and Information Meeting the next week. And each year without fail I must explain to the whining girls in my class why they were not given a colorful flyer and calm my boys who have been wound-up by our exciting visitor. This year was no different...except for one thing...the Cubmaster has gotten Trent hooked on the idea of Boy Scouts. And I'm pretty sure it had something to do with talk of shooting BB Guns - at least, that's what I heard from the boys in my class.

Fortunately, as a former Girl Scout (and a Gold Award recipient at that) I am a supporter of scouting. So it appears that Trent will be joining Cub Scouts next Tuesday. But I know there is one other person who is probably more excited about it than John and me - that would be Pops. So Dad, as a supporter of the Boy Scouts and most importantly as Trent's Pops I only have one question for you...

HOW MANY BOXES OF POPCORN WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY THIS YEAR????? :-)
Popcorn sales begin September 28th!

Ella Started her Ballet Class Today

Ella had her first ballet class this afternoon. I thought I would post a couple of pictures of her...she picked out the dance bag herself when we went to buy her shoes on Tuesday. She cried for just a minute when she was walking into the room but Ms. Leslie said she did a wonderful job!

I'm also posting another "ELLA UNPLUGGED" concert. This is her rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

Trent's First Day of Second Grade

Today was Trent's first day of 2nd grade...
As is tradition in our house, today was also Trent's time to be measured. I knew he grew over the summer...I just didn't think it was a whole inch! And Ella grew 3/4 of an inch since June.
The day went well for both Trent and me. I got a new student this morning so I am up to 17 in my class. Trent is excited about the coming year. He sat next to Reece at lunch so he's happy.

If they shoot off fireworks in Tennessee, what color whould they be????

ORANGE, OF COURSE!!! I took a short clip during the Boomsday Celebration.

Fall Festival at Church last Wednesday

Okay...I have to say that this video clip of Trent riding the horse is quite funny. As you all know, I love the video feature on our digital camera. It's better than seeing just a picture. However, I did not expect this to happen while the "camera was rolling."

I also got a quick clip of Trent climbing the rock wall. He didn't get to far up as you can tell.
